Homeroom ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use and safeguard your information when you use the Homeroom app and website.

Homeroom is designed for parents and caregivers, not children. Children do not create accounts or use Homeroom directly.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

• Name
• Email address
• Password (encrypted via Supabase)

1.2 School Information You Upload

This includes any content you choose to store or forward into Homeroom:

• Documents (PDFs, photos, screenshots of notes)
• Forwarded school emails
• Event dates, reminders, schedules
• Information manually added by you

1.3 Usage Data

• App activity (features used, views, taps)
• Device type, browser type
• IP address (standard server logs)

1.4 AI Interaction Data

When using the Homeroom AI assistant, your prompts and relevant extracted content are processed securely through the OpenAI API. OpenAI does not store or train on your data.

Homeroom does not use AI data for any purpose other than responding to your request.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Create your weekly school schedule
• Identify dates, events, and reminders
• Power the AI assistant
• Provide notifications (if enabled)
• Improve and maintain the app
• Offer customer support

We do not sell or share your data with advertisers or unrelated third parties.

3. How Your Data Is Stored & Protected

We use industry-standard, secure providers:

• Supabase — database + authentication (encrypted at rest)
• Vercel — hosting and serverless functions
• Postmark — inbound email parsing
• OpenAI — AI processing (no data retention)

Your documents, notes, and schedules are private to you. No one at Homeroom views your data unless you explicitly request support.

4. Data Retention & Deletion

You control your data.

• Your information is stored for as long as your account remains active.
• When you delete your account, all associated data (documents, emails, reminders, schedules, AI logs) is permanently removed within 14 days.

5. Information Sharing

We only share your information with essential service providers that power Homeroom:

• Supabase
• Vercel
• Postmark
• OpenAI API

We never share your information with schools, advertisers, or outside parties.

6. Children's Privacy

Homeroom is used by parents. We do not collect data from children directly.

Parents may enter:

• Child names or initials
• Class year
• Event details

This information is used strictly to generate schedules and reminders.

7. Your Rights

You may:

• Access your data
• Correct your data
• Delete your data
• Ask how your data is used
• Opt out of notifications
